Kiva RETIRES

Kiva has been a member of the New London Police Department for seven years, serving his police career from July 2001 to July 2008. He has been partnered with Officer Chad Stringer his entire career. Kiva has had Hundreds of felony arrests and seized/found 8 guns. Kiva has apprehended numerous armed robbers and purse snatchers. Kiva particularly likes to deter drug dealers from getting away. Besides theses police duties two things stick out in Officer Stringers mind when it comes to Kiva and what he had accomplished.
He tracked a suicidal juvenile who left his residence with a knife. Kiva tracked for over a mile. Kiva and Officer Stringer tracked to the juveniles location and were able to then safely persuade the juvenile to safety.
Officer Stinger, K9 Kiva and a fellow officer were checking on a mentally disturbed person. This person turned on the officers and wanted a "suicide by cop". Officers were being backed into a corner with minimal options. Kiva was deployed and the person was detained with minimal injury. The incident ended well considering the options and no one was seriously hurt nor did the officers have to use lethal force.
K9 Kiva now enjoys retirement at his home with Officer Stringer his wife and two young children.
