2nd
annual Raheem Carter Memorial Flag Football Game
Photos by Marie Friess-McSparran

On July 26, 2008 members of Local 724 participated
in the 2nd Annual Officer Raheem Carter Memorial Flag Football tournament.
The $300.00 entry fee for the team was paid for by NLPD PBA Post 1 and
Local 724. Proceeds from the tournament went to the Officer Raheem Carter
Scholarship fund. NLPD had a first round bye in the tournament, but lost
consecutive games thereafter. In the losing effort however, in addition
to former D-1 College football player Razul Wallace, Kyle Gorra and Justin
Clachrie emerged as rising stars for Team New London. Team MVP Gorra led
the team in receptions while Velcro hands Clachrie also showed he can
hold onto the rock. Chris Bunkley aka "Bunk" showed that he
has an arm and will compete in the future for the starting Quarterback
position against veteran Brian Laurie. Veteran Joe Olivero, Matt Galante,
Joe Buzzelli, Tony Washington, and Chris White rounded out the NLPD Team.
A good time was had by all and the team wants to thank those that came
out in support of the good cause. NLPD plans on participating in next
years tourney. Thank you to all that participated and photos by Marie
Friess-McSparran. Next up for the NLPD Team is our annual game against
Norwich PD. Time/Date in the fall TBA. ...
